Description

Reed Diffuser Gum 110 ml is the playful one — sweet bubblegum, unmistakable and unserious, and comfortably the scent children pick when you let them choose.

The Gum Scent

Exactly what it says: soft, sugary bubblegum with a slight fruitiness underneath. It makes no attempt at sophistication and it is not trying to. Of everything we make this is the least formal fragrance, and that is the whole appeal — a room that smells like this feels relaxed rather than presented.

Where to Put It

  • A child’s bedroom — the obvious home, and the reason most people buy it.
  • A playroom or study corner — light and cheerful without being distracting.
  • A teenager’s room, though strawberry usually wins with that age group.

It is the wrong choice for a formal sitting room or an entrance hall, where it undercuts the impression you are trying to make. Gardenia and oud are the scents for those rooms.

How Reed Diffusers Work

No flame, no electricity, no timer — which is exactly why a diffuser suits a child’s room where a candle never would. The reeds draw oil up from the bottle and release it continuously. Our guide to choosing a reed diffuser covers placement, reed count and how to make each bottle last.

How to Use It

  1. Remove the stopper and insert the reeds. In a child’s room, half is usually plenty — sweet scents feel stronger than they measure.
  2. Wait two to three hours for the reeds to saturate before judging the strength.
  3. Place it high and out of reach rather than on a bedside table or a low shelf.
  4. Flip the reeds once a week to refresh the scent.

Common Questions

Is it safe in a child’s room?
There is no flame, no heat and nothing to plug in, which makes it far safer than a candle or a plug-in warmer. Place it out of reach: the oil is not meant to be swallowed and the reeds can be pulled out and spilled.

Is it very sweet?
Yes. That is the point, and we would rather say so than describe it as something it is not. Use half the reeds if you want it in the background.

How long does a 110 ml bottle last?
Six to eight weeks with all reeds in, longer with fewer.

If You Want More Than One

Most households end up running different scents in different rooms. The 10-scent variety package is the cheapest way to cover a whole house and let everyone have the one they want.
